The Panasonic Breadmaker has a dispenser that adds additional ingredients automatically in to the kneading process and a rye bread mode. For example, it will automatically add raisins if you're making fruit bread.

I'm really pleased with this machine, it's easy to use and makes perfect bread every time.

So far I've made an ordinary white loaf (the XL size is massive!)a spiced raisin loaf- great for breakfast, and a brioche with chocolate chips.

What's really useful is the timer delay so you wake up to great fresh bread. You know all the things that have gone into it, and its really tasty. The machine is easy to use,but you MUST follow the instructions carefully, and the automatic dispenser for fruit, nuts etc is a boon as you don't have to stand over it waiting for the beep to add these like other machines.

There is a dough only option which allows you to take out the dough and shape it yourself. It also does cake but I haven't tried this yet. It is like magic, add the ingredients at night, set the timer, and wake up to the house smelling of lovely fresh bread- amazing!

You get what you pay for in this world and the Panasonic SD-YD250 is a perfect example. Quiet as a mouse. No jumping around the counter and whining and improperly mixing as a Breadman we purchased (and returned) did.

Had another Panasonic for 8 years. Decided to replace it when the pan seal failed and we checked out the cost of a replacemtnt pan (not realizing we could replace just the paddle mechanism/seal.)

Thought we could get by on the cheap with the Breadman. Wrong. If you are looking for a rock solid, flexible unit that turns out a perfect loaf time after time (up to 2.5 lbs), this is your bread machine. The automatic yeast dispenser is a great feature, particulary if you use the timer. Spend the [money].

Even with use at least twice a week, this one held up. Bought my first at Marshall Fields in Chicago...Now, after 18 years, the circuitry in the heating element finally gave up the ghost. Not to worry. This has held up better than any others I know of - from friends who purchased other manufacturers. Highly recommended.
